Message from the Vice Chancellor

I am happy to communicate to you all through our newly re-invigorated website. As one of the founders and first Vice Chancellor of Kampala University. I am only overwhelmed by such a rapid expansion of an institution which started like a dream in 1999 and is now boasting of a student population of over two thousand, hailing from all corners of the globe, three campuses in Uganda, i.e. The School of Nursing and Health science at Mutundwe (4Kms from the Kampala city centre), the Masaka campus (120Kms) from the heart of Kampala city, towards western Uganda, and the main campus (Lake view campus at Ggaba) 7Kms, from the heart of Kampala city, on the beautiful and worm shores of lake Victoria.

The Proprietors and Management of Kampala University have already embarked on another ambitious plan to set up a separate sister University in Kenya, at Kitengela, 40Kms from Nairobi city, on Namanga - Arusha road. This will be the first Ugandan University in Kenya and specifically in Kajiado District. I am glad to report that plans for establishing such an institution have already reached advanced stage.

The aim and goal of Kampala University is to position itself as a regional centre for Excellency and as an agent for change and delivery within the Great lakes region also as an institution of first class choice for students, staff and employers. Achieving such a long-term goal is by no means an easy task but in the eight years of our existence we have scored one success after the other. The most recent happened 24th-27th July, 2007 at Kigali, Rwanda, when our institution out competed all the other Universities and commercial institutions that exhibited in the 1st Uganda-Rwanda Educational EXPO 2007. At this first ever regional EXPO, our institution emerged as the best Exhibitor - a no mean achievement.

Kampala University has a vision, a mission and philosophy that is challenging, relevant, global, realistic and pro-learner. Therefore, if you have the potential, the will, the determination and the love for the knowledge, and research, then Kampala University which is totally committed to quality assurance, is your right place.

Our Motto says it all - "We strive for excellence" Please join us in the struggle. Thank you.

The Vice Chancellor
